Description

High in the Nilgiri Mountains of the Western Ghats, Avataa set out to craft a green tea of distinctive depth and character. In appearance and style, Long Ding carries an intriguing resemblance to the celebrated Longjing (Dragon Well) tradition of Zhejiang, China — while remaining unmistakably Nilgiri, shaped by its own mountain terroir and craftsmanship. That award-winning Long Ding is now blended with gently roasted rice and a delicate touch of jasmine: the rice adds a warm, nutty-toasted roundness, while jasmine lends a restrained floral lift — brisk yet rounded, green yet toasted, with the tea unmistakably at its heart.

  • Award: The pure Long Ding earned international recognition in its own right.
  • Liquor: Bright, clear yellow-green, lively in the cup
  • Aroma: Fresh green-leaf character, warm roasted rice notes, jasmine sitting delicately in the background
  • Taste: Rich and lively — natural astringency gives structure, roasted rice brings mellow roundness, jasmine a subtle floral nuance
  • Finish: Clean and persistent — briskness giving way to a warm toasted note, then a delicate floral echo

The Art of Steeping

The Master Brewer’s Ritual

1 Tsp (2g) or Pyramid Bag per cup

Use 1 tsp or a pyramid bag of tea per 200ml of water, allowing the leaves to unfurl and release their flavour.

85–90°C water

Use freshly heated water at the ideal temperature to gently extract the tea’s natural aroma, flavour, and character.

2-3 minutes

Steep for 2-3 minutes, then strain and enjoy. Adjust the time to discover the flavour profile you prefer.

"We do not simply cultivate tea. We tend a mountain, and let it decide what it wishes to become."
